2019 Reading Challenge

2019 READING CHALLENGE

 Join us for a fun reading journey through the year. Pick up a bookmark at the library with monthly reading challenges. Complete the challenge by reading a book from the listed category. Write down the title and return the bookmark to the library for a small prize.

Monthly Challenges, read a book:

January- set in the winter

February- featuring a romance

March- with green on the cover

April-with a religious theme or character

May-a main character is a mother or military figure

June- celebrate our summer reading theme, "Showtime at the Library" by reading a book made into a play or movie

July-beach read!

August- with an academic setting as the kids go back to school

September-historical fiction

October-something that scares you

November- about a family

December- holiday setting

 

FALL USED BOOK SALE

It is time for our fall fundraiser, a used books sale. We regularly receive donated books and other materials.  We also weed out unneeded items from our collection. Twice a year we set these items out for a book sale. There are  no set prices, just a donation to our children's programs. Items will be available now through the end of October.

 

PROGRAMS FOR KIDS

 

PLAYTIME AT THE LIBRARY
WE HAVE A FUN TOY CORNER WHERE KIDS CAN PLAY WHILE YOU USE THE COMPUTER OR LOOK FOR BOOKS. 
WE ALWAYS HAVE ACTIVITIES SET OUT FOR KIDS TO DROP IN AND DO ON OUR ROUND CHILDREN'S TABLE.  KIDS CAN ASK TO USE FAVORITE TOYS AND ACTIVITIES SUCH AS COLBY THE ROBOT MOUSE, LEGOS, THE SCHOOL BUS OR ART KITS.

We have a fun toy corner available for children to play while you are on the computer or looking for books. 

We always have activities set out on our round children's table for kids to drop in and use.  During breaks from school, there will be extra things available such as Colby our robot mouse, Legos, and "Art for the Fun of It" art kits.

AFTER SCHOOL @ THE LIBRARY

A fun and educational monthly library program for kids in grades K-4 with art, snacks and games. Meets the third Tuesday of the month

FALL PRESCHOOL READING PROGRAM

For six weeks in the fall we will provide weekly programs for preschoolers of any age with an adult.  We will have Storytime, art and other fun things for our youngest patrons to do.  We begin Friday, October 4 and finish Friday, November 8, starting at 10:00 am and lasting about 45 minutes. We do not provide a snack for this program, but do ask that you sign up at the the library, by calling 427-2550 or on Facebook so we know about how many kids to expect.
